We are a group of current, former, and aspiring professional athletes as well as loyal supporters who have come together to define and support the collective voice of our athlete members. Our association exists to serve the professional athlete and to ensure that we help define the vision of the future of professional track and field globally.
We will serve our members by working with the various stakeholders – sponsors, agents, meet directors, federations, and fans – to identify ways to improve our profession at the international and national level from the athletes’ perspective. Recognizing that all groups within track and field have different agendas, no sport is sustainable without innovating and advancing the competitive experience for the professional athlete and the fan. Our organization is vital to the long-term growth of our sport.
We are not a union. Our members are independent contractors with no common employer. Nor are we anti-Olympic or other international and national federation. But we are about the profession. And sometimes the needs of the profession will conflict with the ideals of our amateur sports models. Conflict creates an opportunity for open discussion and debate. We welcome this discussion and hope that all parties maintain an open mind and a willingness to find common ground.
We are the Track and Field Athletes’ Association.
